Headless Portrait: Other Roommate

This is another one of my roommates.  He was busy studying while watching a basketball on ESPN so he didn't mind if I took photos.  I tried getting photos of him in focus and tried it with the arm of the couch in focus and him blurry.   I tend to like those more but it's just me.  The black & white turned out well too I think.

Headless Portrait: Roommate

This here are headless photos of my roommate.  I took them while he was on the computer applying for jobs.  I tried color and black & white to see the difference and I like the black & white more.  Comment with your opinion.  The bottom photo is of him pretending to read a book so I could get more photos.

Shutter Speed: Sister Jumping

The bottom photos are of my sister jumping.  You can see the difference of fast and slow shutter speeds.

Shutter Speed: Sister Swinging Golf Club

These photos are of my sister.  She acted as my model for this assignment.  I was getting more fast shutter speed shots.  I had her swing a golf club and I had my camera set to continuous shots to catch the entire swing.

This below photo is of my sister swinging the golf club while on 1" shutter speed.  I think it looks decent, but the background is still a tad blurry which is kinda aggravating.

Shutter Speed Tests: Slow Shutter Speed

These both are slow shutter speed photos.  They both are blurry because they take in the motion of the extended period of time.  Sometimes it makes it cool like the bottom one because he looks like he is floating.

Shutter Speed Tests: Fast Shutter Speed

All of these photos were taken of water.  I think it is cool how you can see the individual droplets in all of these.

The Unseen: My Walk Around The Basilica

All of these photos were the night after it snowed don campus, so Saturday night.  All of these were unseen to me because I do not spend much time around the Basilica so I thought this would classify as unseen to me.

  1. The top photo is of an inscription in the stone of the Basilica which reads "Walk Then As Children of the Light"  I thought this would be a cool photo of getting the lamp in the photo to contrast the inscription.
  2. The second photo is of a door on the side of the Basilica near the main side steps.  I've never really taken notice of this door but because the light illuminated it from the dark sky, I took notice this time.  I tried to do the "framing" as mentioned in class on Wednesday.
  3. The bottom photo is just of the main entrance to the Basilica.  I've never noticed the carvings in the stone so I thought this would be interesting.  I also liked the light as well with the shadowing combined with the brightly lit parts.

The Unseen: Snow

  1. The top photos is taken when it was snowing Friday night.  This is a fresh footprint.  This shows of something we normally forget and neglect.  Our footprints of where we have been and where we are going are usually overlooked in our lives.
  2. The second photo is of a leaf of course and the ice which froze on it.  I broke the ice away and took this photo as a contrast between the original and the remade pattern.
  3. The third photo is showing a neglected beer can out in the snow.  This was at the bottom of the steps of the Basilica.  I thought this was ironic for where it was and it followed along with my theme of this post of snow/ice.

The Unseen: Under My Car

The under-carriage of our cars is another unseen.  Most people do not even acknowledge that it exists because we just hop in our cars and go on our merry way to the desired destination.  Not the most artsy photo, so check my other blog on the right side of the page.

The Unseen: Alarm Clock

This may need some clarification.  My alarm clock for me is seen in the sense that I know it is in my room.  But for this assignment I was able to realize the alarm clock is unseen in the sense that it just sits there, making annoying noises in the morning that I sleep through.  It doesn't even wake my up in the morning from what my roommates tell me, instead it goes off for like 10 minutes and then my roommates start yelling at me.  So for that reason it is unseen.

Life on Campus: Engineering Life

The above photos are of one of the labs I spent my entire last semester in.  These photos just represent my life in the engineering building.  Things are just such a mess here because we didn't have time to put things back in place after our place lab during finals week.

Life on Campus: Typical TuesdayNight

This top photo is of the talk on campus about 'Can a Modern Man Believe in the Divinity of Christ?' by Fr. Julian Carron.  This represents my life here on campus because I always try to attend these guest speakers talks because I always like learning or hearing opinion's of other people.  So I tried to do that on Tuesday of this week (17th).  The bottom photo is of my roommate cutting tape into our suite in the Mills.  This represents my life on campus besides the obvious roommate thing, but rather how we just try to work hard during the day with engineering work and relax with board games and whatnot.  Tonight we played a board game my roommate(pictured) has been working on for about a year so he felt a ribbon cutting ceremony was needed.

Life on Campus: Sports/Working Out

These are photos of my roommate playing basketball at the Duf on Saturday, the 16th.  This represents my life on campus because I like to stay active by playing basketball or going to the fitness center every morning to try to get in shape.  I thought these action shots represented that idea well enough.

Life on Campus: Cigars

One of the things I do here at CUA is enjoy my cigars with my friends.  It is a good time to catch up while relaxing at the end of the week.  This here is my friend Ross who is clearly enjoying his cigar.  It was taken with the Auto program settings with manual focus.  I am not sure of the F-stop or the shutter speed since I do not know how to do find that on photos.
